The video of the A320 shaking wings after missing the approach in Gibraltar went viral. Let’s discuss a bit about it
A new SmartCopilot configuration for the FF A320 is out on the .org for free! You’ll need other plugins but you can finally share your cockpit with a friend!
Now all Navigraph subscribers can update their FlightFactor’s A320 AIRACs without thinking about purchasing Aerosoft’s.
It’s about time to smile, for all the Navigraph and FlightFactor’s A320 users since the AIRAC provider released a compatible cycle for the Airbus.
As I wrote in my short tutorial about AIRAC installation I use Aerosoft’s so I couldn’t predict when the plane could be fully supported by both Aerosoft and Navigraph, but the moment has come.
After many development hours, and many hours in testing, we are proud to announce the release of FMS Data for the Flight Factor A320 Ultimate for X-Plane. The FMS Data Manager will automatically detect the addon and update the dataset. Press the “Scan” button under the “Addon Mappings” interface. Don’t have the manager? Get it here: Link
As you can read from Navigraph official sources it’s adviced to have the AIRAC manager installed as it’s easier to install new updates without extracting every package manually (that can lead easily to installation mistakes). Please, be aware of what you are installing, as the files name must suit with FlightFactor’s ones. But, again, you can find more information on my old tutorial.
Video out on TOM’s Cockpit official channel showing a landing in Sarajevo airport, as you can see it was… terrible
I focused way more on following the steep path and on touching down at the right point to have space to stop my roll out instead on a soft landing. The result is a terrible (super hard) landing, but on the centerline and with 400 ft of runway left after braking, not bad I guess.
It’s my first time in Sarajevo, I had the idea to fly to this airport while watching landing/take off operations at the real airport, and it’s so cool to see aircrafts taking off and landing in only one direction to avoid the dangerous mountains southbound. This time I added a detailed wingview with a sweet glass effect. Check it out!
The A320 by FlightFactor is a very advanced plane, also in airac updating and installation. This How To post is made to teach the AIRAC updating that seems to be not very understandable by the pilots. I advice you to always read manuals.
- The first step is to run your AIRAC regardless of wether Aerosoft or Navigraph. Once you are there install the A320 Airac on your desktop.
- You’ll get a “FlighFactorA320” folder. Open it and open the “data” subfolder.
- Now rename the “nav.db” file in “nav1.db” and put it on your “data” folder of the aircraft directory.
You’re done. Next month just rename the “nav1.db” file you’ve created today in “nav2.db”, to get a better backup, and repeat the process. You can overwrite the older files or mantain them as you like.
